Race Venue
George Wyth State Park is located on Highway 218 within the
Waterloo-Cedar Falls metropolitan area in Northeast Iowa. Take
Highway 218 Exit 185 and follow signs into the park. Parking will
be clearly marked; please do not park in the grass. Check in,
transition area and race start will take place at George Wyth Lake.

Divisions
Elite Division - This category is open to all
participants that have a realistic chance of winning the race.
These participants will comprise the first swim waves and will be
eligible to win overall cash prizes, but not age group awards.
Participants must register themselves as elite participants to be
included in this category. The Elite division is only open to
those participating in the Olympic distance event.
Clydesdale and Athena Divisions - Men weighing
200 pounds or more and women weighing 150 or more are able, but not
required, to participate in the Clydesdale/Athena divisions. To do
so, you must indicate this group on your registration form.
Entrants in this category are eligible for Clydesdale or Athena
Division awards, but not age group
awards. Cash prizes are available to those
participating in the Olympic distance event; those in the Sprint
distance event will be eligible for non-monetary awards.
Novice Division - This group is for people that
have participated in three or fewer triathlons and want to race
with other "newbies," rather than in their age group. Participation
in this division is optional - not required. Entrants in this
category are eligible for Novice Division awards, but not age group
awards.
Teams - Two or three person relay teams (male,
female, and coed) are welcome at the Peregrine Charities Triathlon.
Each team member must register individually and pick up his/her own
race packet. Relay team members will share a timing chip. The swim
team member will hand off the chip to the bike member before he/she
unracks the bike. Returning bikers must rack their bike before
handing the chip to the runner. All hand offs must occur in the
Transition Area. Cash prizes are available to those
participating in the Olympic distance event; those in the Sprint
distance event will be eligible for non-monetary awards.
Cash prizes in the Olympic distance event will be given to Elite
Male & Elite Female 1st through 3rd places, and 1st place in
Novice, Clydesdale, Athena, Age Group and Relay (Male, Female and
CoEd) categories. 1st Place finishers in the Sprint distance
categories (Clydesdale/Athena, Age Group, Novice, and Relay Teams)
will receive non-monetary awards.

This Triathlon is a fundraising event to support Peregrine
Charities; $30 of your registration fee is tax deductible to the
fullest extent of the law.
Refund Policy - Registration is neither
refundable nor transferable. In the event of cancellation by the
Race Director, $60 of your registration fee is a tax deductible
contribution. You will receive an updated receipt from
Peregrine Charities.
You may change your race distance or category until one week

Sanctioning
The Peregrine Charities Triathlon will be sanctioned by USA
Triathlon. Race participants are required to be annual members of,
or have a one-day permit from, USAT. The $10 USAT one-day permit
fee is included in the non-member registration fee. USAT members
must present their USAT membership card and photo ID at packet
pickup.
Awards
A total prize purse of $4,175 will be awarded at the 2010
Peregrine Charities Triathlon. Cash prizes in the Olympic distance
event will be given to Elite Male & Elite Female 1st through
3rd places, and 1st place in the Clydesdale, Athena, Age Group,
Novice, and Relay (Male, Female & CoEd) categories. 1st
Place finishers in the Sprint (Relay Teams, Age Croup,
Clydesdale/Athena, and Novice Categories) distance will receive
non-monetary awards.

1st Place = $1,000
2nd Place = $500
3rd Place = $100
Relay Team prizes (Male, Female &

1st Place: $75
Age Group, Clydesdale/Athena and Novice

Black Hawk County Resident Award:
1st Place: $25
Sprint Distance Awards:
1st Place finishers in all categories (Relay Teams, Age
Group, Clydesdale/Athena, and Novice): Non-monetary awards
All finishers will receive a 2010 Peregrine Charities Triathlon
medal.
Additional prizes and raffle items will be given out at the
Olympic Distance Awards Ceremony. Items include, but are not
limited to: 2 Air Tran Airways tickets, $100 Barmuda gift card,
Stroll Down Main Street gift card worth $115, Joker's Comedy
Nightclub gift certificate, 16GB iPod Nano, 2 $50 gift cards to
3xFast Swim Bike Run, 2 Xterra wetsuits, Waterloo Golf Headquarters
gift card, Tri Towels, Race Belt, Yankz! Sure Lace System, Fuel
Belts, Technical T-shirts, Tri Jerseys, Hats, and Visors!
Packet Pick-Up and Pre-Race-Day Information
Race packets must be picked up before race day. Packet pickup
will take place on Saturday, September 25, at George Wyth State
Park. Athletes must pick up their own packet, showing a photo
ID and their USAT membership card (if applicable). This applies to
individual relay team members, as well.
Each registered athlete will receive a fun bag with a technical
t-shirt, socks, and many other goodies!
Please park your bike in the Transition Area on
Saturday. The transition area will be closed and guarded
overnight; if there is a chance of rain on Saturday night, bikes in
the transition area will be covered. Before parking your bike,
please have it checked at the Bike Tech tent at the Expo. They will
inspect your bike for USAT compliance and will install your bike
number.
At the Pre-race Expo, enjoy displays from local businesses and
national companies. Sign up for door prizes, have fun, and gear up
for race day!
Early Packet Pick-Up
To make it easier for our athletes, we will be offering early
packet pick-up at three locations.

You must bring your photo ID, USAT Membership Card (if
applicable) and a short description of your bike. We would
like to know the brand, color, and distinguishing characteristics
of your bike.

Timing
Timing services will be conducted for the Olympic and Sprint
distance races.
Chips will be distributed at check-in on the morning of the
event. Race participants are responsible for returning their chip
to volunteers at the finish line. A $30 charge will be assessed to
the athlete if the chip is not returned.
Event Cancellation
If the swim portion of the race is cancelled due to inclement
weather (i.e. heavy rain, lightning) or unsafe water conditions,
the event will be duathlon, with run-bike-run.

Peregrine Charities
Proceeds of this event will benefit Peregrine Charities,
supporting medical research for rare pediatric diseases and
providing assistance with children´s hospitalization and medical
treatment. $30 of your registration fee is tax deductible.
Peregrine Charities grants funds to Eastern Iowa hospitals to
assist with their care of children and to fund ground-breaking
research investigating origins, treatments, and cures for rare
childhood diseases. The ultimate goal is to provide children with
comfort, dignity, and hope during difficult times.

the fun.
